Use the Skinny Package Wisely

Tomorrow is December 1st and that means the consumer will now be able to add individual selections to Canadian “Skinny” television packages.

Channels Ordered “à la carte” Coming December 1st

In March of this year, the CRTC mandated that cable and satellite television providers offer a minimum or “skinny” package to consumers that would not exceed $25.00 in cost.

Needless to say, it was not met well by the telecom industry. Because of this, the offering by telecom companies was not in keeping with the intention of the change. As a result, the public suffers from more costs with less selection.

With large outcries of “foul” to the CRTC by consumers, the large television providers are being taken to task to provide a better version.

This all comes as the second phase of the mandate, for the consumer to be able to add individual channels, comes into effect.

What Can the Consumer Do?

Shop wisely!

With a “skinny” cable package and a quality Streaming TV Box, viewers won’t miss out on a thing.

In recent articles, we’ve mentioned that streaming television is not a reliable source for live TV feeds. Therefore, it’s best to have an alternative to get local news and/or specialty programming.

A minimum (or “skinny”) cable package and one or two hand-picked specialty channels will deliver what the streaming option can’t. Viewers can now enjoy the best of both worlds at a reasonable price.
