Change of Television Packages

The biggest news (at least in Canada) regarding consumer options revolves around the new CRTC mandate for all service providers to have a “skinny” package option.

In a nutshell, Bell, Rogers, Shaw, Cogeco (to name a few) MUST present an option to consumers for a basic cable or satellite package of television channels that does not exceed $25.00 (Cdn) per month.

The idea behind this change was to help consumers fed up with the burden of having to pay for additional channels that they did not use or care to see.

As is always the case; however, these large provider companies seldom lose out on such deals.

Now the public is learning that they are having to pay even more to access their favourite channels/stations when accompanied with a basic package.
